I Can Line Up Social Story and Lanyard Behaviour Prompts Cards.

This listing is for a “I can Line Up” Social Story together with Lanyard Behaviour Prompt Cards. This resource is created for children who may be struggle to understand the process of lining up and the behaviours not permitted during line up.

The social story is created on a page by page basis so you can include or exclude pages relevant to you.

I have included are two alternative pages which refer to a “line up leader”. In some schools there is no assigned role as a Line Up Leader. I have included two alternative pages. Choose which on suits your classroom needs best.

There is a focus within the Social Story on behaviours that are not permitted during a line up and there is a focus on situations where a line up procedure may be expected.

Social Stories™ are a method of communication between a student with autism and the professional/parent. They are used as a means of clearly communicating information about a context, skill or concept in a way that is meaningful to someone with autism. This creates clarity and predictability for the student and can subsequently reduce anxiety and improve the ability to cope in different contexts and experiences.

Sit down with your child/ student at a time they are relaxed and engaged. Read through the story and encourage any questions they may have. For students who may not be able to read, read the story for them and use the visual icons to help your child/student understand.

Ensure you keep your tone calm, relaxed and open to hearing/understanding any worries or anxieties your student/child may have. Use each page as a jumping off point for questions or misunderstandings your child/student may have.

The Behaviour Lanyard Prompt Cards can be printed laminated and attached to a suitable lanyard. Use the Behaviour Prompt Cards to encourage students to not engage in “bad choice” behaviours.
